Gift Ideas for Women
Buying Christmas Gifts is perhaps one of the worst parts of Christmas - er, shouldn’t that be best parts of Christmas! The shops always look beautiful with their Christmas displays and there are always new collections to browse and bargains to be hunted down. However, the crowds, long queues and bad traffic quickly turn what should be a fun day out into a chore that never ends.
By the time you reach Christmas day it feels like you’ve been dragging your feet through shops for at least the last week, and as is often the case you often haven’t found all the presents you wanted to buy. So instead year after year you find yourself settling for the same boring items. Belts and ties may not make very original presents, but they will get used regularly, especially if the recipient of the gift is a business man. The thought that you bought your other half a belt last Christmas is conveniently pushed to the back of your mind as you guiltily make the purchase, promising next year you will find something better.
Wives and mothers will inevitably find themselves swept off their feet during the Christmas season. As well as the Christmas gifts shopping, they will need to purchase food and decorations. While it doesn’t sound particularly hard, as anyone who has ever made the trek to the supermarket on the 23rd or 24th December knows, finding those last minute ingredients can be extremely challenging. It’s one of the few times of year where everyone is eating the same thing and supermarkets can quickly run out of essential items. Therefore while the rest of us are fretting about Christmas Gifts, our wives and mothers will be worrying about Christmas diner, household chores and making sure the Christmas decorations go up in time. As a result by the time January arrives, many women find themselves heading back to work more exhausted than they were before the Christmas season.
Therefore it is nice to try and make sure you get your wives, mothers, grandmothers and sisters gifts that show them how much they are appreciated. While this might sound easy in theory, it is a well known fact that not only do men hate shopping, but they are also known to be incredibly bad at it! Although it is the thought that counts, it is nice now and then to receive something that you can enjoy and use. Handbags, books, scarves, nightdresses, lingerie and perfume are all usually fairly safe bets.
Women’s fashion is constantly changing, so as long as you stick to purchasing items from the latest collections you can guarantee that they won’t already own the item. The disadvantage is that while it may be a different colour, shape or size to the one you bought last year, you can often find yourself buying the same type of gift over and over again.
Shopping on the internet has certainly added a more interesting perspective to gift shopping. There are many websites available allowing you to purchase gifts (such as Buy-a-gift). It is also possible to browse through thousands of different gifts from the comfort of your sofa. To stay ahead of competitors, online shops regularly have sales and special offers allowing the consumer to gain better value for money. However, with the whole world at your finger tips you really do need to have a good idea of what you are looking for, otherwise you will find yourself spending hours browsing site after site unsuccessfully.
For the stumped shopper, experience and activity days have added a new perspective to shopping for Christmas gifts. It may look like a simple voucher, but it is what it represents that is important. With a single sheet of paper, you can treat your loved ones to an amazing experience. It might only last a few hours, maybe a day, but the memories are unlikely to fade for a long time to come. Most importantly of all, the women’s experience days usually consist of relaxing, pampering activities. These are ideal for women struggling to recover from the aftermath of the Christmas season. It also gives them the chance to start the New Year relaxed and refreshed. So the only real challenge remaining is choosing the experience day.
This is made extremely easy as they are usually categorised by age and sex. There are activities available for all ages from children to pensioners, for couples and families, and for either men or women. The activities in the men’s section tend to be adrenaline fuelled and involve anything from jumping out of a plane, to driving an Aston Martin. While they are marketed towards men, it is still worth giving them a quick look over. You never know your loved one may harbour a secret desire to learn how to fly a helicopter or sail a boat. They may even simply have always wanted to try their luck out at a casino.
The women’s activities while usually more relaxing, are no less boring. You can choose anything from pole dancing lessons to a balloon flight. Despite the wide variety of options available, many women (particularly working mothers) will probably prefer a soothing trip to the spa. Most men are unlikely to ever understand the attraction of spending a weekend at the spa, however, women love to be pampered.
They may never complain about it, but working mothers rarely get a minute to sit down, relax and treat themselves. In the spa, they are able to take time off and just enjoy themselves. They don’t need to worry about packed lunches, car pooling and business meetings. Instead they can make the most of some valuable ‘me’ time where their every wish is taken care of.
As well as Spa Breaks there are plenty of other pampering activities available. For example you can treat them to a day out in the capital (with either dinner or lunch in a nice restaurant included); beauty treatments, make-up classes, makeovers or even a day at the gym with time in the Jacuzzi or sauna followed by a massage.
With so many different experience days to choose from, you are guaranteed to find something. So you no longer have an excuse for those tedious Christmas gifts.
