Two Way Radios, or Walkie Talkies, are not just for security use. Whilst the Police use licensed two-way radio frequencies, the rest of us use a licence-free version known as PMR446. This means that even if the radios look the same, they are in fact perfectly legal as they use a completely different frequency range.
On this same note, do not be tempted by cheap two-way radios from outside of the UK as they will either non work in the UK or are likely to use illegal frequencies.
Many families now use what we would normally call, a Walkie-Talkie, to keep in contact with their children. The parents are happy in the knowledge their children are safe and the kids think they’re fun to use!
